Recording session in Studio A at Hedayat Music 97 rue Oberkampf · Paris 11th

Custom instrumental production

How does a custom instrumental production session work?

The custom composition sessions (just like the first meeting with Hedayat, by the way) can take place at the studio or remotely. It's up to you! On the day of the session, bring references of well-known tracks to help our beatmaker/arranger Hedayat understand your influences and the style of music you want for your new track. He can also start from a melody you've created, lyrics you've written, an emotion you want to share... or even from nothing at all! Either way, you'll watch your 100% personalized track take shape before your eyes during the session ;)

What gear is used to create instrumentals?

To create custom instrumentals, Hedayat uses Cubase Pro 15 (sequencer/DAW) in Studio A. The creation is done on the computer, with various VST instruments (virtual instruments) and plugins. This is what's called computer-based music production (music made with a computer).

Where can I listen to demos?

Want to listen to instrumentals Hedayat has created for other artists before booking a meeting with him? We totally get it! Right this way

Can we add live instruments to the instrumental?

Of course! If you'd like musicians (guitarist, bassist, violinist, etc.) to play on your instrumental, we know excellent ones who can record their instruments just for you, at the studio or remotely.

They can complete the base already made with computer-based music production, for an instrumental that's half created on a computer and half with live instruments. It's your instrumental, it's your choice 😉

And of course, you can record your instrument yourself if you want.

 Lyric writing

How do I choose the right lyricist?

First, book a meeting with Hedayat, the studio's artistic director. Tell him what you want for your project, what kind of lyrics you'd like and in what language, and he'll point you himself to the lyricist who seems best suited to your project! And if you've already written lyrics and would like a professional's opinion before using us for this service, Hedayat will offer to show your text to one of our experts, who will tell you what they think of it.

How does the lyric writing process work?

Once you've chosen to work with us on the lyrics for your song, we'll put you in touch with the lyricist so they can start working on your lyrics, remotely. And of course, the lyricist isn't paid until the lyrics are finished and you're satisfied with the result!

How long does it take to write the lyrics for a song?

Most of the time, allow one week between the start of the writing and the finished text. But of course it all depends on how urgent the request is and on the availability of the lyricist you're working with.

What languages can you write lyrics in?

We work with French, American and Italian lyricists, so we can write lyrics in French, English or Italian 😉

Recording session

How does a recording session at Hedayat Music work?

Once you arrive at our space (Paris 11th), you're welcomed by the sound engineer running your session. He introduces himself, offers you a coffee, tea, water... and off to the studio!

All you have to do is give him the instrumentals (in .mp3 or .wav format) of the songs you want to sing, and you're off! From the control room, he guides and supports you throughout the session. His goal is to make sure you feel at ease, have a great time and, of course, that your finished recording is the best it can be. Rest assured, you're in good hands 😉

Can I come even if I've never recorded in a studio?

Of course, we'd love to have you 😊 !

Our studios are open to everyone, whatever your age and level. Our sound engineers are trained to adapt to the person recording. They're there to put you at ease, show you how to position yourself at the mic, guide you throughout the recording and help you get the best possible result by the end of the session. All in a kind, upbeat atmosphere! Yes, singing in a studio is above all an amazing experience, and it's all about having a great time.

And if you've never recorded in our studios, you get 10% off your 1st 4-hour session with the code BIENVENUE-RECA in Studio A, BIENVENUE-RECB in Studio B! And if you're under 27, a €50 discount is applied to ALL your 4-hour sessions when you choose the "under 27" option at booking.

What software are the studios equipped with?

With Pro Tools 12, Cubase Pro 15, Melodyne, the Waves Audio suite, UAD ultimate and plenty of other software, everything is in place to make every stage of sound processing easy in our studios. Plus over a hundred plug-ins (effects for instruments/vocals) and around a hundred VST instruments (virtual musical instruments)!

We give you the best software for the best result.

Can I book a session on a Sunday or a public holiday?

The answer is yes!

Here are the rates:
1 hour in Studio B goes from €69 to €81.50
1 hour in Studio A goes from €80 to €92.50
4 hours in Studio B goes from €200 to €250
4 hours in Studio A goes from €250 to €300

Are you 18? Here's how to record for free with the Pass Culture:

The Pass Culture is a program set up by the government to make culture more accessible to young people, giving them a €150* budget to spend at cultural venues... including our studios. Just go to the Pass Culture website, log in and type "Hedayat Music" in the search bar. Then all you have to do is choose the activity you want: 1 hour in Studio A, or 1, 2 or 4 hours of recording in Studio B, a singing lesson, or even a private music production lesson to learn how to create instrumentals on a computer! It's up to you 😉

* since March 1, 2025, the budget has gone from €300 to €150

Hiring a vocal coach and/or a videographer during your session, what does that mean?

Having a vocal coach with you during your recording session means getting help from a professional to warm up your voice, place it during the recording, work on your breathing, intonation and the pronunciation of your lyrics, and find and record harmonies. All to make your song shine as much as possible and give your very best at the mic!

Hiring a videographer in our studios means a camera operator comes to film you at the end of your recording session. They shoot several takes of you singing your song at the mic, from 2 or 3 different angles. Then, a few days later, you receive your edited video! You can keep it as a lifelong memory and even post it on social media to grow your audience 😊 If you're interested, watch Eva and Tess's video to get an idea of the final result:

Finish your tracks

How does a mixing session work?

Once we've checked the quality of the separate tracks of your song that you've sent us, off to the studio for mixing! You can attend the session by coming to the studio, follow it remotely from home or not take part at all: it's your choice. 😉 Each mixing session is done by one of our experienced sound engineers and is booked in a 4-hour slot, with the option afterwards to request a free revision (remotely, limited to one hour of work on the mixing).

Do I need to get all my tracks mixed and mastered?

It depends on your project! Actually, mixing and mastering are two absolutely necessary steps if you want to release your track or tracks commercially, because without them, your songs won't have the quality needed to be played on the radio or distributed on streaming platforms. If, on the other hand, the songs you've recorded are only for personal use, mixing is rarely recommended: a simple pre-mix done at the end of your recording session is enough (also called a rough mix)!

I'm 18: can I book a mixing or mastering session for free with the Pass Culture?

As a reminder, the Pass Culture is a program set up by the government to make culture more accessible to young people, giving them a €150 budget to spend at cultural venues... including our studios. At Hedayat Music, mixing costs €300 and mastering is €100 for under-27s. So, with your €150 budget, you can absolutely book a mastering session through the Pass Culture website.

As for mixing, which goes over the €150 budget, you can pay €150 with your Pass Culture and cover the rest yourself!

Are vocal editing and Auto-Tune the same thing?

No 😉 While they both make a voice sound more “in tune”, Auto-Tune is an automatic adjustment that doesn't allow as much precision in correcting the voice as editing does. And it's Auto-Tune, unlike editing, that gives you the sound of a robotic voice when the effect is pushed. Editing doesn't produce the same result at all, even when you force it! So it depends on the result you're looking for.

Do I need to be on site for vocal editing, mixing or mastering?

Since mixing is a "creative" stage in making your track, because a sound engineer will inevitably bring their own "touch" to the process (the same track can be mixed differently and therefore sound different), you can absolutely attend and take part in the session. On site or remotely (by video call), for that matter!

For editing and mastering, there's no need. These are stages that don't require anyone other than the sound engineer handling your track, because they don't bring their artistic vision to the track in any way.

Can I get discounts on mixing and mastering prices?

Yes! Here's how:

  • Get 10% off your very first mixing session with the code BIENVENUE-MIX
  • Also get 10% off your first mastering with the code BIENVENUE-MASTER

For under-27s:

  • All mixing sessions are €300 instead of €400
  • And all mastering is €100 instead of €150

What's the difference between mixing and mastering?

To put it very simply:

🏼 mixing is the individual processing of each track of the song to make the finished song harmonious and balanced,

🏼 and mastering is processing a single file (the result obtained after mixing) to get flawless sound quality and meet radio and streaming platform standards.

The two steps are essential AND complementary if you want to release your tracks commercially. Quality first!

Why work with professionals to develop your social media communication?

It's true that today, handling your own communication can seem "easy" to some people. And some people are perfectly capable of it!

What you need to keep in mind, though, is that it's hard for one person to think of everything and master it all: communication strategy, SEO, how to speak to your community, what content to share,... The advantage of getting advice from professionals is that they have the perspective and expertise to guide you and give you the means to gain visibility. And personalized advice is always worth having.

Can I work with Hedayat Music for just one service (e.g. audit, bio, storytelling, personalized advice, release timeline...)?

Yes, of course! All our services are à la carte, which means you can work with us for one service, or 2, or 5, or all of them, it's up to you.

Once you've told us about your project, your challenges and your needs, we'll suggest a personalized action plan and point you to one or more of our services, and then of course it's up to you to tell us what you choose to do. You stay in charge of your project, you'll always have the final say!

Can I get free advice to grow my communication?

Funny you should ask 😄! We have a blog where we publish articles every week, full of tips on lots of different topics, including digital communication.

Distributing your tracks

Can you put your tracks on streaming platforms yourself?

To release your songs on Apple Music, iTunes, Deezer or Spotify, you have to go through a distributor; you can't do it yourself through the streaming platform. There's no other way, that's just how it works!

I'm 18: can I use the distribution services for free with the Pass Culture?

Why go through Hedayat Music to release your tracks on streaming platforms?

The answer is simple: we have a partnership with the digital distributor Tunecore, which gets you 20% off their annual subscription.

With this annual subscription going from €49.99 a year to €39.99 a year, you can release an unlimited number of tracks on more than a hundred streaming platforms for a whole year! To take advantage of it, just use the code HEDAYATTC20 when you buy the annual subscription on Tunecore.

What do you need to get on the radio?

To get on the radio, you need to:

Have at least one finished track, meaning recorded in a pro studio, mixed, mastered, with vocals that are perfectly in tune. Choose the lead track of your project, the one with the widest appeal, so it makes an impression.

Respect the radio format (avoid explicit language, limit the length)

Prepare your press kit: when you send your music by email, you'll need to introduce yourself, talk about the track in question and attach professional photos of yourself...

Then, once all these criteria are met, we'll pass your project on to Music Media Consulting, who will approve it or not, depending on market demand at the time. Yes, it also depends on what new releases radio stations are looking for!

Voice-over, podcast and sound design

I'm interested in sound design: how do I go about it?

From jingles to ad music, through video sound effects and logo animations, sound design covers so many possibilities! That's why you first need to explain your project and your needs to us as clearly as you can, so that we can in turn explain what we can do for you, and at what price.

Can I record a voice-over even if I've never recorded in a studio?

Of course! The studio is open to everyone, so if you feel up to recording your script, go for it. Just keep in mind that voice-over is a profession in its own right that requires rigor, precision and control of your voice. Diction, intonation, breathing... all of these need work before you step up to the mic. So sometimes it's better to leave a voice-over recording to professionals, because they're very efficient when recording and their chameleon voices are capable of great things.

Listen to the demos of the voice-over artists we work with, then decide whether you'd rather go with a pro or try it yourself!

Will a sound engineer be with me while I record my podcast or voice-over?

Yes, and not just any sound engineer! All our sound engineers are handpicked and trained to advise and support the people who record, always with kindness. Because even if the main goal is to leave with the highest-quality recording possible, it's also important to work in good conditions and with real professionals 😉

Do you have to record your podcast in a pro studio?

No, not necessarily! But in that case you need good equipment at home, a room with acoustic treatment to record in (to avoid echoes, for example), and a good command of recording software.

What you need to understand is that to record a quality podcast, you can't leave anything to chance.
It would be a shame to lose credibility because you were too close to the mic, or because of crackling that's unpleasant to the ear, for example... So the best option is to record with a microphone designed for it, in an acoustically isolated room, and to work with a professional sound engineer who can advise you and record you properly. You'll need to remove all the "hmm"s, the "uh"s and the unavoidable mouth noises, on top of processing your voice to make it as pleasant as possible to listen to. All of that takes work, but if you know what you're doing, nothing's stopping you!

How do you create a memorable, impactful jingle?

That's the whole challenge behind creating a jingle... Before you create one, you first need to ask yourself the right questions: what do I want the listener to feel when they hear my jingle? How long should it last? Something simple or elaborate? What sound(s) would best fit what your company sells or offers? It's absolutely essential to ask yourself these kinds of questions to identify the right type of jingle. The best thing is to talk it over with a specialist, who'll be able to guide you, advise you and point you toward the right choices.

Which microphones does the studio use for podcasts and voice-overs?

Our podcast mics are Shure SM7Bs, which we can set up around a table in Studio A. If you're recording alone, you can also do it sitting on the couch in the same studio... Or standing in the Studio A vocal booth with the Brauner VM1 mic! That's actually the one we use most often to record voice-overs.

Team building

What team building activities can you do in your studios?

We offer several team building formats:

🏼  The simplest is to record a song that already exists: Céline Dion, Booba, Michael Jackson... you decide! Rehearse as a group, then record the chorus all together, and finally step up to the mic one by one.

🏼  You can also come and rewrite the lyrics of a well-known song, with a lyricist, to make it your own. And then, of course, record it, as a group and one by one!

🏼 The most in-depth format is to create a song from A to Z, from the instrumental to the vocal recording, including writing the melody and the lyrics... with a singing lesson as a bonus 😉

And on top of these formats, there are several options! You can be filmed, bring in a vocal coach during the recording or a singing teacher just before, or enjoy drinks or a breakfast, depending on the time of your team building.

How long does a studio team building last?

It all depends on the format you choose and the number of participants 😉

We offer custom experiences to best meet your expectations and organize THE perfect team building for you, so if you are interested, contact us at +33 1 84 20 01 43 and we can discuss it together!

How much does a team building in your studios cost?

It depends on the team building you would like to organize 😊

The simplest way is to contact us to explain your team's expectations and needs, so that we can then walk you through the different possibilities and the associated rates!

Alternatively, you can also tell us about your budget and we will think together about what we can organize for you.

+33 1 84 20 01 43

Can we see some of the team buildings you have already organized?

Yes, absolutely, you can see them on our Instagram 😉

If you'd like a little idea of what recording a well-known song with your coworkers would look like, take a look at the Scoop company's team building! They recorded "J'irai où tu iras" as a season's greetings message to send to their clients at the end of the year.

If you're more Jean-Jacques Goldman than Céline Dion, you can also check out what the ISCOM team's team building came up with in their cover of "Je te donne"!

And here's a behind-the-scenes look at Alain and his coworkers at the studio, celebrating his retirement together. For the occasion, they rewrote the lyrics and recorded their version of "We Are The World".

Experiences and gifts

Who can you give a studio experience to?

To absolutely EVERYONE! Our studios are open to all ages and all levels (from shower singers to Adele herself... yes, really), as long as there's a love of music! And good vibes, of course 😉

That's right, you don't have to be a music pro to enjoy a memorable experience in a professional recording studio: music is for everyone!

How do you give a studio experience to someone close to you?

You can do it directly online by following this link!

Once you've made your purchase online, or when the person you're giving the gift to is ready to book a slot to enjoy the experience, just call us at +33 1 84 20 01 43 and we'll make the booking together, based on our respective availability.

What activities can you organize in your studios?

There are lots of different options!

You can host your child's birthday party there so they can record their favorite song with their friends, come yourself with your family or friends to sing a song you love and then record it, or even go all out with an incredible experience and create a track from A to Z!

All activities can be done solo or in a group, for a special occasion (birthday, bachelorette party...) or just for fun, it's up to you.
